"When I saw the movie Top Gun, I knew that's what I wanted to do."
Todd's first application to be a pilot didn't work out as planned. Despite failing, he pursued his dream by starting his commercial pilots licence, flying a Cessna. To help pay for his training and flying hours he worked at a winery.
In 2002 Todd's persistence paid off. He was accepted into the Air Force and began his Officer career and flight training.
Todd's ambition to fly in the Air Force became a reality in 2004, when he received his 'wings'. After advanced training school, he was accepted into the Fast Jet training program. By 2007, Todd was operationally qualified to fly F/A-18 Hornets.
Training exercises in Alaska, 2008, and Malaysia, 2009, have been career highlights for Todd. Not only did he have the opportunity to experience the thrill of flying fast jets, he also had the opportunity to see the world.
Being awarded Instructor of the Year in 2012 was a proud moment for Todd - almost as proud as watching students graduate under his guidance.
In 2016, Todd toured the Middle East. He regards serving his country as one of the most important milestones in his career.
